This trip we (My friend Tarra & I) were heading to a bigger city and definitely more traveled by foreigners. We were heading to Guangzhou. My friend Brooke works for Sky West and she offered us to use buddy passes. We of course we happy and took her up on her offer. Dan was suppose to come with me but it just didn't work out. Buddy Passes = Standby.
This is Tarra & I at 5am in the morning getting ready to leave to the airport.
Tarra and I headed to the airport at 5 am to see if we could catch the 7am flight; this flight was going to Atlanta. We needed to get to Atlanta to catch our flight to Shanghai the next day.
We didn't get on the 7am flight nor did we get on the next 6 flights. We just waited and waited. Finally around 2pm we got on a flight to Memphis. We were lucky because i don't think we would have gotten out if it wasn't for this flight. Once we got to Memphis we could catch a flight to Atlanta. Oh by the way I had some Memphis BBQ and it was VERY Good!!!We ARRIVED in Atlanta at about 8pm. Not too bad because our flight that we needed to take didn't leave until 9am the next morning.
Once in Georgia we decided that we would just stay at the airport and try to stay up for as long as we could so we could sleep on the plane. Now looking back not sure if it was the best idea but oh well.
I love to people watch and people watch I did. We met a lot of INTERESTING people.
First, we met this bag lady that seriously had so much junk I couldn't believe it. She was heading to China as well which i found odd. Not sure what she is going to do there but to each her own. Then again everyone would ask us where we were going and we would say China and people just couldn't understand why we would go there. Anyway the bag lady wanted us to watch her stuff while she found a post office. She had bags of letters to send to people and it looked like random people. I think she might be loosing her mind.
Then we met some Utahans not sure where they were going but their daughter around 18 years old couldn't figure out the names of the states. i thought geez i better find out what school she goes to and not put Kennedy in that one if she doesn't even know the names of the states.
Next, was this guy that had been drinking and came to the airport on a whim and decided he was going to go to Italy. He found out the price of the ticket and decided to just go to Phoenix Arizona. I couldn't get over how funny that was. His Dad was just put in prison on drugs charges. Not sure why he told us that but oh well.
First off that airport was FREEZING!! It had to be about 50 degrees. We couldn't sleep even if we wanted to I seriously thought I might freeze to death. Note to Atlanta Airport: you could save cost on your air conditioning bill by having the temperature set to 70.
Also, we were sitting next to this guy that I swear snored louder than I ever heard. He also had his shirt all the way up to his face so his belly was showing. I tried to get a picture but I was busted and his wife put his shirt back down. I thought that was the funniest thing to see little did I know he was actually was being fashion forward. When we went to china that was the "in" thing to do for men is show off your belly.
We checked in and waited to see if we could get on the plane. Not only did we get on the plane we got first class. Which by the way 1st class international is AMAZING!!!!
First off the seats turn into full on beds. You get your own t.v., great food and most of all lots of leg room. Once we got on the flight we were served lunch. After that I took an Ambien and crashed. Not sure what really happened after that. Just Kidding. I sleep for about 7 hours and woke up and watched some T.V. and then we landed. that was the quickest and most enjoyable flight ever.
