Remember 9/11...........................

On September 10, 2001 I was waiting in the Los Angeles Airport to take a flight home from Hawaii. We arrived to LAX early and had about 15 hours to kill. While we were there we met two military guys. One was finishing leave and one was on his way home to start his leave. We chatted with them for a long time since they were practically the only ones in the airport. For some reason a knife got brought up and one of the guys took out a knife that was wrapped up in a towel. I said can you take that on the plane? He said yes as long as it is under 6inches (I cant remember the exact size but i believe that is correct.) he said you just have to have it wrapped up. At the time I was thinking that was very dangerous and someone could easily unwrap it. Well on the morning on September 11, 2001 I was awaken by my dad saying that airplanes hit the world trade center. It was probably around noon or so I was tired from flying so I slept in. I really didn't believe him so I turned on my TV and sure enough it was true. I felt so sick to my stomach. How could this have happened? And what kind of person would do that? Then I thought of the one military guy that was so excited to go home and see his family on leave. I thought there is no way he will get to stay and will probably have to go back ASAP. For days I had my eyes glued to Shepperd Smith giving us all the details hoping they would find more people alive.
About 3 weeks later I thought I have to go out there and visit some of the firehouses. So I headed out there. I brought some fire fighters some Olympic memorabilia. When going down to ground zero it was the weirdest feeling that you can't even explain. The smell was horrible and there was just building parts everywhere. Everything was covered in inches of ashes. It was very sad. I still need to find the pictures and compare the ones I just took.
Things are progressing slowly. I guess this project is suppose to be done in 2011.
When you talk to people in New York they really don't like talking about 9-11 and many won't even go down to that part of the city. Very Sad!

Kennedy taking it all in!
